Great paintings are not about great technique alone. The mark of a great artist is being able to capture and translate the emotion of the scene that inspired you in the first place.
While many artists are still struggling to do this, one man does it with ease. Best of all, he can show you how you can do it.
His name is Dave Santillanes.
He’s one of the few oil painters with the almost-magical ability to portray the essence of a landscape in his paintings.
If you’ve not heard of Dave, he has been painting outdoors for almost 20 years. He’s a Signature member of the American Impressionist Society and the Oil Painters of America, and his work has been featured in PleinAir Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, and Art of the West.

The best part? He’s not just a great painter — he’s an amazing teacher too.
